Providing Comfort, Dignity and Opportunity for Homeless Children and Families
When families are forced into homelessness, it is often children who carry the emotional weight the longest. My Little Teddy exists to step in during these moments of disruption, offering comfort, practical support, and hope for a healthier future.
We support mothers, children and vulnerable individuals living in temporary accommodation, including hotels, with very limited resources. From the absence of furniture and transport, to the stigma and bullying children experience, we work to ease these challenges while raising awareness of the realities families face.
Empowering Independence Through Opportunity
Teddy’s mission also extends to creating pathways to self-employment for individuals experiencing homelessness. Through partnerships with BBX and BBX Pound Charity, participants receive:
-
Initial business setup fees covered
-
£5,000 in Trade spending for essentials such as cards and leaflets

-
Letters of recommendation and structured support
-
The confidence to build part-time or full-time self-employment
For many, even small steps toward autonomy can lead to long-term independence and dignity.
Our Initiatives
1. Aiding Vulnerable Individuals
We raise funds to supply furniture and everyday essentials to help families set up new homes, ensuring they have a stable environment to thrive.
2. Combatting the Stigma
Through educational programmes, we address the stigma faced by children in temporary accommodation. We support schools with resources to create inclusive environments, alongside monthly ambassador awards that encourage fundraising and awareness among students.
3. Aiding Vulnerable Individuals
We extend our support to single individuals, particularly females with mental illnesses or autism, who find themselves on the streets with nowhere to turn. Through fundraising, we provide temporary shelter and vital assistance, helping keep them safe from the elements.
4. Second Hand Store
Our charity operates a second-hand store offering clothing, furniture and donated items. This provides affordable options, reduces waste, and directly supports our charitable initiatives.
5. Transport Assistance
We raise funds for bus passes to help families access essential services, including school transport, particularly when families are relocated across the city by local authorities.
The Story of My Little Teddy
At the heart of everything we do is the story of a little boy and his teddy bear — a symbol of the possessions children are forced to leave behind during times of crisis.
Through monthly updates, we follow this journey through the system, sharing the challenges and the small victories along the way. Our aim is to inspire empathy, understanding and action — and to remind people that behind every statistic is a child who deserves comfort, safety and hope.
